The brigadeiro is a popular chocolate treat in Brazil. Violet made these for Thanksgiving and they are delicious (we may have sampled them).
Brigadeiro
A popular chocolate Brazilian treat – From Little Passports
Servings: 24 Pieces
Equipment
- Cookie sheets
- Mini cupcake papers
- Frying pan
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Unsalted butter
- 14 oz Condensed milk
- 3 Tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Chocolate sprinkles
- Shaved coconut
Instructions
- Melt butter in frying pan over medium heat.
- Add condensed milk and cocoa powder.
- Stir for 15-20 minutes until mixture thickens.
- Once thick, spread the mixture on the cookie sheet and set aside to cool for about 20 minutes.
- Use a spoon to scoop small amounts of the cooled 'dough' into your hands and form into balls. Don't handle them too much or your body heat will make the dough sticky. Lightly butter your fingers to keep it from sticking.
- Roll the balls in the sprinkles and/or coconut and set them in the mini cupcake papers.
- Chill the brigadeiros in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
